Cuenca, Equador

Angelus by Tutto Freddo- desserts and ice cream are amazing - food is also tasty and pretty cheap for being on the square. There’s over flow seating across the street. Wings $5 for 6 wings and chips

Next door is a food court: Fillipe has great fresh pizza $6 for a small that filled me up with $4 wine; also the French bistro downstairs from filippe has good onion soup and tartines

Box food is kind of a walk but is a good court with everything. 12 wings with lots of chips and a drink $10. Other food looked good as well.

Le petit Jardin is only open Saturday and Sunday and you need a cab to get there. Make reservations it’s excellent food and very reasonable prices. Had 2 apps, 2 cocktails; 5 glasses of wine; 2 entrees; and 2 desserts $92

Seven spices had great butter chicken with bread and a large beer $11

El Mercado was good; however pricey for the quality of the meal.

There’s a jazz bar which runs wed-sat 7:30-10 and it’s nice jazz. Come out of the main church in the square take a right and it’s a couple of blocks on the right above a pizza restaurant. Just go for the jazz.

El cigale was a good place for cocktails and socializing.

I stayed in Pepe’s house hostel. Great location; all double beds just not much going on. El caficito down the street seemed to have lesser accommodations but a rooftop bar and restaurant which was nice.

La cajas national park is about an hour out of town on the bus. We took the 6 hour walk route 3. Feel like it would have been fine to take the 3 hour instead. $3 on bus to the top of cajas.

Free walking tour had some value

Other restaurants on my radar I didn’t get to try
El parillada; Qala, cafe del museo, capitan, and Simón.
